LUX — Curators in Flux

Overview
LUX presents Curators in Flux, a founding edition conceived as a hybrid curatorial laboratory. Over six weeks in Berlin, from February through March 2027, selected curators will engage in an intensive program that bridges physical and virtual modes of practice. The initiative is rooted in the belief that curatorial work today demands fluency across both realms, and that the most urgent exhibitions are those that interrogate the conditions of their own making. The laboratory is structured to foster rigorous dialogue and experimentation. While the precise curriculum remains under development, the format—hybrid, six weeks, Berlin—suggests a commitment to situating curatorial inquiry within a specific urban and institutional context while remaining accessible to international participants. Berlin, as a city with a dense and contested cultural infrastructure, offers a critical backdrop for examining the politics of display, the economies of attention, and the possibilities of collective curating. What participants receive beyond the obvious—time, space, and peer community—is the opportunity to test curatorial propositions in a supportive yet demanding environment. The program is not a degree, nor a residency in the traditional studio sense; it is a laboratory, implying process, failure, and iteration. Curators at any stage may find value, but the founding edition suggests a particular openness to those who are shaping the field's next questions rather than repeating its established answers.
