Redivider — Cover Art

Overview
Redivider, the literary journal affiliated with Emerson College, issues an open call for cover art to be featured in both its print and online editions. The selected work will serve as the visual frontispiece for the issue, positioning the artist alongside a curated body of writing and visual art. This is a juried opportunity with a defined institutional context: the journal's editorial team selects a single cover image from among submissions, and the chosen artist's work will be reproduced in two formats, each with its own material constraints. The submission parameters are precise and non-negotiable. Artists may submit up to six images, either as separate attachments or, preferably, in a single .ZIP file. Original files must be saved as .TIF at no larger than 6 x 9 inches, with 600 dpi for line art and 300 dpi for all other work. If selected, the artist may be asked to provide a larger file. Submissions that do not adhere to these guidelines will not be considered. There is no fee to apply, and the journal does not accept work from current Emerson College students, faculty, or staff; alumni must wait three years after graduation before submitting. The curatorial vision is implicit in the journal's dual print-online format: the cover must function as a standalone image and as a digital artifact, rewarding work that reads clearly at both scales. Redivider's broader editorial identity suggests an interest in contemporary, literate visual practice that can hold its own alongside serious fiction, poetry, and nonfiction. Artists working in any discipline are eligible, provided they can meet the technical specifications.
