About the magazine

Redivider is a literary journal based at Emerson College in Boston, founded in 2003 by graduate students in the Department of Writing, Literature, and Publishing. From its inception, the journal has sought to bridge rigorous literary craft with a spirit of experimentation, publishing poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and visual art that challenges conventional boundaries while remaining deeply attentive to language. Its core mission is to provide a platform for emerging and established voices alike, fostering a community where risk-taking is balanced by editorial care. Over two decades, Redivider has maintained a commitment to diversity and innovation, often featuring work that blurs genre distinctions and engages with contemporary social and aesthetic questions.

Editorial focus

Redivider is operated by the MFA and MA students of the Writing, Literature & Publishing Department at Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts. It is published online three times per year, with fall, spring, and summer blurred genre issues. Its fall and spring issues are published in a print volume yearly.

Artists and writers should approach Redivider with an awareness of its dual commitment to craft and experimentation. For cover art submissions, the journal seeks compelling visual work that resonates with the issue's thematic or aesthetic concerns—often abstract or conceptually layered. Before submitting, review several recent issues to understand the range of accepted work. Follow the specific guidelines on the website, including file formats and deadlines. Simultaneous submissions are generally accepted, but notify promptly if your work is placed elsewhere. Redivider values clear, professional communication and appreciates a brief cover letter that contextualizes your practice without over-explanation.

Redivider seeks previously unpublished works from emerging or established authors and artists. We are excited to publish underrepresented voices as well as “offbeat” texts, art, and hybrid works that may not be welcomed at other journals.
