Loewe Foundation: 2027 Craft Prize
Overview
The LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize is an international award that recognizes excellence, artistic merit, and newness in modern craft. Established to celebrate the evolving language of the applied arts, the Prize underscores the foundation's commitment to supporting contemporary artisans whose work expands the boundaries of traditional disciplines. The 2027 edition continues this mission, offering a platform for both individual makers and collectives to present work that is conceptually rigorous and technically accomplished. Thirty shortlisted works will be exhibited in a physical exhibition in Europe in spring 2027, providing significant international visibility. The winning entry, which may be a single piece or a series, receives €50,000. Special Mentions are awarded €5,000 each, irrespective of the number granted. The Prize is open to professional artisans over 18, with no application fee, and emphasizes originality, handmade processes, and recent creation. The curatorial vision centers on craft as a dynamic field of inquiry, where material intelligence and innovative form converge. Submissions must fall within the applied arts—including but not limited to bookbinding, ceramics, leatherwork, and metal—and must be unique, created within the past five years, and not previously awarded. The jury seeks works that demonstrate a mastery of technique while pushing the boundaries of the medium.
