Call for AIR in Bangkok2019

Overview
Tentacles Residency, situated in the Yannawa district of Bangkok adjacent to Tentacles Art Space and the N22 art community, operates as a self-sustaining nonprofit organization without government or external funding. The program is designed for practitioners across all disciplines—visual arts, performance, sound, film, design, and research—who seek to develop new bodies of work, conduct research, or focus on their practices within a dynamic Southeast Asian context. With a capacity for one to three artists at a time, the residency fosters intimate cultural exchange and experimentation. The residency structure includes an internal workshop for artists to introduce their background and research topic, a dedicated research and work period, local tours and studio visits, a workshop, and a concluding open studio, exhibition, or artist talk. Additionally, the program culminates in a publication and report, providing documentation of the residency outcomes. This framework supports both local and international art practitioners in engaging with Bangkok's artistic community and advancing their creative inquiries. As a nonprofit initiative in a developing country, Tentacles Residency does not offer funding, and fees are not specified. Artists are responsible for their own expenses, though the program's structure and connections to the local art scene offer significant non-monetary value. The residency is rolling, allowing for flexible application throughout the year, and is open to all disciplines, reflecting an inclusive and interdisciplinary curatorial vision.
