FASPE 2 — 2027 FASPE Clergy & Religious Leaders Application

Overview
FASPE (Fellowships at Auschwitz for the Study of Professional Ethics) convenes a two-week study program in professional ethics and ethical leadership for clergy and religious leaders. The fellowship takes place in Berlin and Poland, grounding contemporary ethical inquiry in the historical terrain of the Holocaust. It is designed for those who will occupy positions of moral authority—congregational leaders, chaplains in universities, hospitals, prisons, corporations, and the armed services—and who seek a rigorous, place-based engagement with the ethical dimensions of their vocation. Applicants must either be enrolled in graduate school preparing for religious leadership at the time of application or be working as a religious leader with a relevant graduate degree received in May 2020 or after. Students may be studying at a seminary, divinity school, rabbinical school, Muslim chaplaincy program, or other graduate program related to religious or theological training. Ordination is not required, nor is a plan to pursue ordination. FASPE encourages applicants from all faith traditions and seeks fellows with diverse interests and backgrounds. The program is offered at no fee. FASPE provides this intensive study experience as part of its commitment to fostering ethical leadership across professions. The curatorial vision is one of deep historical and moral reflection, asking fellows to consider how the lessons of the past inform the ethical challenges of the present and future. The fellowship is not a retreat or a networking opportunity in the conventional sense; it is a demanding intellectual and ethical undertaking set in locations where the consequences of professional silence and complicity were most starkly manifest.
