Fremantle Press: Poetry Submissions
Overview
Fremantle Press has announced that its poetry list is currently full, and unsolicited submissions are closed. The window will reopen on 1 September 2027 and remain open for six weeks, closing on 30 September 2027. This is a no-fee opportunity. The press notes that while it remains open to considering work from established writers, its editorial focus at this time is on new and emerging poets. This is a deliberate curatorial position, not a courtesy: the list is being shaped around voices at an earlier stage of their publishing lives. The submission requirement is a complete manuscript of at least 60 A4 pages. Individual poems will not be read, and submissions of single poems will receive no further response. This is a full-manuscript consideration process, and the press has been explicit about the terms. There is no partial submission, no sampler, and no preliminary query described in the guidelines. The manuscript itself is the unit of evaluation. For poets, this is a rare instance of a trade publisher opening a general window without a reading fee and with a stated interest in emerging practice. The absence of a prize or advance figure in the provided information means the opportunity should be assessed on its own terms: a manuscript consideration by a press with an established poetry list. The six-week window is fixed, and the press has indicated that submissions outside it will not be read.
