James Cagney

James Cagney is a poet from Oakland, California, who is largely self-taught. He has published two poetry collections. His work has appeared in ZYZZYVA, the San Francisco literary journal, including Issue No. 127. His first book, Black Steel Magnolias in the Hour of Chaos Theory, won the PEN Oakland Josephine Miles Award. His second, Martian, received the James Laughlin Award. He has also published the newer collection Ghetto Koans: A Personal Archive.
