Keenan Norris

Keenan Norris is a novelist, essayist and scholar based at San Jose State University, where he is a professor of American literature and creative writing. His latest novel, The Confession of Copeland Cane, won the 2022 Northern California Book Award. His essays have also received national journalism awards. He coordinates the Steinbeck Fellows Program at San Jose State and has held visiting writer posts at the University of Virginia and the Institute of American Indian Arts. In 2025 he became the nonfiction editor of Callaloo. His work has appeared in ZYZZYVA, The Nation, Alta and the Los Angeles Review of Books.
