Sophie Mei Birkin

Sophie Mei Birkin is a London-based artist whose work explores how materials such as salt crystals, industrial waste and organic residues transform and provoke physical responses. She has exhibited internationally, including at The Hepworth Wakefield and the Barbican Cinema, and has created scenography for performances commissioned by ICA and Southbank Centre. She is a Senior Lecturer in Fine Art at Chelsea College of Arts, and graduated from the Slade School of Fine Art in 2021. She was a Sarabande Foundation resident and received one of its Emerging Artist Awards.
