Violeta Garcia-Mendoza

Violeta Garcia-Mendoza is a poet based in suburban western Pennsylvania. Her debut collection, Songs for the Land-Bound, came out from June Road Press in September 2024. The book explores motherhood, midlife, chronic illness, and climate anxiety through nature imagery. The collection was a finalist for the First Horizon Award and the National Indie Excellence Award, and received an Eric Hoffer Award honorable mention and grand prize short list placement. Her poems have appeared or are forthcoming in Sugar House Review, Alaska Quarterly Review, RHINO, and The Slowdown.
