About the press

June Road Press is an independent publisher whose catalog reflects a commitment to literary craft and the quiet, enduring power of the written word. Founded with an ethos of editorial care and aesthetic restraint, the press prioritizes work that rewards close reading—poetry, literary fiction, and essays that resist the ephemeral. Its mission is to champion voices that might otherwise be overlooked by commercial houses, offering a platform for writing that is formally ambitious yet emotionally accessible.

Publishing focus

June Road Press aims to publish books that lead readers to new places of connection, understanding, and discovery—books that guide and enrich, that transport and inspire, that help readers slow down to better know their environment and each other. The press typically publishes two full-length poetry collections a year, though the scope might expand in future seasons. A poetry anthology is planned for 2026.

Before submitting, read at least two titles from the current catalog to understand the press's aesthetic and thematic range. June Road Press favors complete manuscripts over proposals, and simultaneous submissions are accepted with prompt notification of acceptance elsewhere. Include a brief, unpretentious cover letter that situates your work within contemporary literary conversations without overstatement. Patience is advised: response times are generous, reflecting a commitment to careful reading rather than rapid turnover.

We love writing that’s deep but accessible, that shows an appreciation for slowness and detail, that can foster empathy or awareness or reflection, that’s both timely and timeless. Of particular interest is work that engages with the natural world, or that carries a strong sense of place, by debut or emerging writers.
