About the press

River Paw Press is an independent publisher and literary arts organization founded in 2016 with the aim of fostering cross-genre writing that engages with landscape, memory, and the more-than-human world. Operating from a small studio in the Pacific Northwest, the press has built a reputation for carefully designed chapbooks and full-length collections that prioritize textual and visual experimentation over market trends. Its core mission is to provide a sustainable, editorially rigorous platform for emerging and mid-career writers whose work might otherwise remain outside commercial publishing circuits.

Publishing focus

River Paw Press is a proud member of CLMP and a publishing division of Silent River. Its mission is to discover, support, and celebrate voices in world literature. It serves as a platform fostering creative expression and expanding access to publication and recognition across diverse cultural and linguistic communities. River Paw Press invites submissions for poetry collections, chapbooks, literary work in translation, as well as entries for the Silent River Poetry Prize and Earth Amulet Poetry Prize via Submittable and Duotrope.

River Paw Press accepts unsolicited manuscripts during two annual reading windows, typically in March and September. Before submitting, read at least two recent titles from the press to understand its aesthetic range—work that is purely confessional or conventionally narrative is less likely to fit. Submit via the online portal only; email attachments are discarded. Include a brief cover letter that articulates how your manuscript engages with the press's stated interests in ecology, hybrid form, or archival poetics. Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but notify immediately upon acceptance elsewhere. Response times average four to six months; do not query before that period. The press does not charge reading fees.

River Paw Press is committed to discovering and nurturing emerging voices, shaping their creative path, helping them find their readers, and creating spaces where literature contributes to a larger conversation. It offers publishing opportunities and two annual poetry prizes in competitions: the Silent River Poetry Prize and the Earth Amulet Poetry Prize. Please read the submission guidelines carefully before submitting your work via Submittable or Duotrope.
