About the press

Whiskey Tit is an independent press founded in 2014 by Miette and Adam Golaski, dedicated to publishing literary works that resist easy categorization. With a name drawn from a Flannery O'Connor story, the press embraces the strange, the dark, and the formally adventurous, positioning itself as a home for writing that might be deemed too unconventional for mainstream houses. Its catalog includes novels, short story collections, poetry, and hybrid texts, often characterized by a raw, experimental sensibility. The press operates with a DIY ethos, prioritizing artistic risk over commercial viability, and has cultivated a loyal readership among those who value literature on the margins.

Publishing focus

Whiskey Tit attempts to restore degradation and degeneracy to the literary arts. They’re pretty sure they are succeeding here. This is usually because the works don’t fit neatly into genre/length/media packages. They proudly publish books that are too long or too short, books in which the authors insist upon no back cover blurbs, books whose best genre descriptions might be “comedy of terror,” “memnoir,” “randy seafaring misadventure,” or “low-tech noir.”

Whiskey Tit accepts general submissions during occasional reading periods, announced on their website and social media. Before submitting, read several titles from their catalog to understand their aesthetic. Include a brief cover letter with a synopsis and author bio. Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but notify them immediately if accepted elsewhere. Response times vary, often several months; patience is advised. They do not charge reading fees for general submissions.

Please be uncompromising in your vision, unwavering in your standards, and exacting in your vision. The press will reopen for submissions on January 1, 2015, following a brief hiatus in December.
