Image Threads is excited to offer a free online mentorship program. For this initiative, the collective members as well as other participating photographers and bookmakers will be making themselves available to those looking for periodic dialogue and critique on an ongoing body of photographic work intended for book form. Mentoring is free of charge and will take place virtually on a bi-weekly basis, over the course of 2-3 months (a more precise schedule will be determined by each mentor and participant.) As the program is being conducted on a volunteer basis, each mentor will be selecting a limited number of projects—those we feel are best-suited to the format and to our mentors’ respective areas of expertise. In the spirit of Image Threads’ mission, preference will be given to individuals without access to comparable educational opportunities. For an up to date list of currently available mentors, please visit imagethreads.org

Indiana University Bloomington is the flagship campus of IU’s eight campuses statewide. Innovation, creativity, and academic freedom are hallmarks of our world-class contributions in research and in the arts. Just 50 miles southwest of Indianapolis with over 48,000 students, Indiana University Bloomington is a cultural and artistic hub of the Midwest. While IU's amazing arts and entertainment offerings play a large role in the city's cultural atmosphere, Bloomington is extraordinary. Bloomington residents and IU students, faculty, and staff form a vibrant, active community that benefits from the metropolitan qualities of a large city and the easy pace of a small town. Studio Art, founded in 1895, offers graduate and undergraduate degrees in fourteen concentrations including ceramics, painting, graphic design, metalsmithing and jewelry design, digital art and time-based media, photography, fibers, printmaking, creative core, and sculpture. The Eskenazi School of Art Architecture + Design at Indiana University Bloomington invites applications for the 2028 McKinney International Art and Design Residency. An established artist or designer will be selected whose primary country of residence is outside the United States. Applicants should be actively engaged in a contemporary artistic practice and show evidence of a national and international exhibition record. Applications from practitioners of studio disciplines, as well as criticism, are welcome. The application deadline is at 11:59 pm (Eastern US Time) on January 18th, 2026. Selected artists are required to visit for a four to six-week period between February 1 and April 1, 2028. The Artist-in-Residence will be selected based on the merits of their professional careers, their dedication to being part of an academic environment, and their proposal to develop and expand on their creative process utilizing the facilities, unique collections, and research centers available at Indiana University. Selected applicants will be featured as part of the McKinney Visiting Artist Lecture Series and must remain in residence for the full period of the residency. In addition, prospective residents will coordinate with the Eskenazi School of Art + Design to offer studio visits, open studios, and a workshop based on technical/conceptual innovations.

Established in 2004, INSTINC is an artist-run institution that promotes a new language of art to realize a wide array of art forms, including but not limited to installation, performance and video art. In 2009, INSTINC launched its own Artist-in-Residency programme to provide a unique framework for young artists with limited experience to bypass large-scale institutional residences and take on a space where they are able to engage in various experiments and cultivate professional and personal connections. Our artist residents are welcomed to our building's facilities, including the gym, pool, and jacuzzi. In addition, we also commit to assisting our artists with media campaign and exhibition setup, using our existing connections to the Singaporean art world. Artists can choose to stay between 1 and 3 months at a reasonable rate. If you are interested in learning more about INSTINC and the programme, please email ENQUIRIES@INSTINC.COM or check out our website WWW.INSTINC.COM
The Institut für Alles Mögliche is an artistic project that, by using experimental means, sets about questioning, scrutinising and probing the institutionalisation and presentation of contemporary art. To this end project spaces are opened, events developed and various artistic practices tried out. These, mostly playful experiments deal with interrogations of the ‘art space’, the operatings of the ‘project space’ and ‘exhibiting’ often in an ironic manner. The central concept is to develop spaces of possibility in which exchange and experiences can take place and space for artistic activity can come in to being. The project can be understood as an organism, as an artistic attempt to find niches and to implant a non-commercial program into the commercial structure of the municipal sphere. It is intended to formulate a notion, a proposal, an approach on how artistic collaborations, collective learning and cohabitation can be constructed. The project tries to create an alternative, which opposes the economic utilisation of art, the artistic pressure to produce and increasing standardisation. Projects that are realized within the institute are non–commercial and not market-orientated. We place great value on artistic practices and forms of expression that take place beyond art fairs and galleries. During our deliberately short events – the majority no longer than three days – experimental set-ups, unfinished concepts and playful approaches can be tried out and realised. The creations and projects that come in to being through these processes can work out uncannily but also fail spectacularly.

The Institute for Provocation (IFP) is a Beijing-based workspace and think tank hosting residencies, research projects, workshops and lectures stretching the borders between art, architecture and design. As a workspace, IFP focuses on the thinking process before or even beyond the actual creation of an artefact: the collection of dramaturgical information, the testing of different architectural scenarios, the summarizing of existing artistic vocabularies and realized projects, experimenting with new media or disciplines, and so on. Cross-disciplinary and cross-cultural interaction serves as the Institute's main facilitator. Rather than similarities, IFP proposes differences (in culture, in vocabulary, in paradigms, in disciplines) as actual provocations of the research and thinking process of artists, architects and designers. IFP has a specific interest in research that proposes cross-disciplinary strategies to collect information, read or produce work or artistic/architectural experiment. IFP also opens up for research in disciplines other than the arts that can provide the contemporary arts with new insights, modes of thinking and/or research strategies. Residency proposals for China show a link with the local context without being limited to it.
The Institute for Public Architecture (IPA) welcomes applications for the 2025 Independent Project Residency based at the historic Block House on Governors Island. The IPA Independent Project Residency program invites emerging and mid-career practitioners – whose work focuses on the public realm – to live and work during an eleven week live-in Residency at the IPA Block House on Governors Island. The Residency seeks to create new interdisciplinary opportunities for collective thinking by providing communal space for architects, urbanists, landscape architects, designers, artists, climate researchers, and researchers to live, work, and develop independent projects within the community of the residency. Applicants will bring their own interests to the program and will have opportunities to engage with the public and various local community partners and social practices within the IPA network over the course of the Residency, which will culminate in an exhibition of work at the Block House. IPA Fellows are among the first civilian residents to live on the Island since the Coast Guard’s exit in 1996. Fellows will enjoy unparalleled historic, natural, and urban resources with direct access to downtown Manhattan and waterfront Brooklyn neighborhoods via ferry. The IPA, a long-term tenant on Governors Island together with Billion Oyster Project, the Harbor School, Earth Matter, Beam Center and Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, is one of more than twenty arts, cultural, educational, and environmental nonprofit organizations operating on the Island, forming a unique community that connects with a diverse and growing audience of nearly one million annual visitors. The program is scheduled Summer: June 1 - August 17, 2025 and Fall: September 1 - November 16, 2025.

Residency BASE - Before Form - Practice as a space for research and self-care Two editions in 2026: July 14–18 and September 9–13 in Valencia, Spain. BASE offers artists, curators, and researchers a shared territory of encounter — a pause to reconnect with the nature of their own practice. Here, the intimate and the collective intertwine, opening a space where each process can resonate in its own singular way. In this edition, practisioners are invited to a five-day retreat in a countryside house surrounded by nature, just outside Valencia, Spain. Through a series of practices designed to activate and support your creative process, the organisers will share: — Site-specific walks and drifts — Body-based activations — Observation practices — Writing sessions — Reflective spaces rooted in your own technique — One-on-one mentoring A program designed to help you reconnect with the core of your artistic methodology, within a carefully held environment and a horizontal approach to learning. At BASE, you step into your own time — a space to momentarily step outside linear dynamics, to ground your practice and observe it from a renewed perspective. A place to recognize coherence between life and work, as a creative being in constant transformation, expansive and free. The organisers understand this residency as: — A process-based laboratory of exploration — A space to move through questions with openness and safety — A community grounded in listening, generosity, and care — A parenthesis within the accelerated and hierarchical rhythms of society A place where: — The body is approached as an archive — Memory becomes material — Practice unfolds as a field in transformation At BASE, a state of sensitive exploration is activated. Throughout the residency, each participant will be able to: — Engage in dialogue with their practice from a broader perspective — Identify creative blocks and open new possibilities — Expand their creative language — Discover new ways of relating to their process — Situate their work within their context of interest Creating is also a way of imagining other ways of being in the world. And doing it together is a way of sustaining them.
