Editorial focus
Arkana is a compendium of the rare, intriguing, and unheard. It seeks and fosters a sense of shared wonder by publishing inclusive art that asks questions, explores mystery, and works to make visible the marginalized, the overlooked, and those whose voices have been silenced.
Submitting your work
Before submitting, familiarize yourself with Arkana's aesthetic by reading recent issues. They favor work that is evocative, strange, and beautifully crafted, with a strong sense of voice and atmosphere. Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but notify them promptly if your work is placed elsewhere. Include a brief cover letter and a third-person bio. Response times vary, so patience is appreciated.
We publish work by established and emerging writers unaffiliated with the University of Central Arkansas. We accept previously unpublished fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, scripts for the stage or screen, hybrid, translation, artwork, and illustrated narrative through our Submittable submission manager. Simultaneous submissions are always welcome. We only ask that you withdraw your piece as soon as you accept another opportunity.
