Editorial focus
Glassworks is a publication of Rowan University’s Master of Arts in Writing program. In addition to providing opportunities for graduate students to participate as literary citizens, Glassworks publishes literary work from both emerging and established writers from across North America and around the world. The editors value writing that is well-crafted with a range of forms, subjects, and aesthetics, and we seek nuanced complexity in work with insight, depth, honesty, and emotion.
Submitting your work
Writers and artists should review past issues to understand the magazine's aesthetic, which favors work that is evocative and well-crafted, often with a visual or interdisciplinary bent. Submissions are typically open year-round, but response times can vary during the academic semester. Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but notify immediately if work is placed elsewhere. Include a brief cover letter with publication history, if any, and adhere strictly to genre guidelines: up to five poems, one prose piece under 5,000 words, or up to five images. Proofread carefully; the editors appreciate clean, error-free manuscripts. Payment is in contributor copies, so this is best suited for those seeking exposure rather than monetary compensation.
Please read past issue for a sense of aesthetic and follow submission guidelines carefully. We especially seek to promote work by new authors and those from marginalized communities.
