About the magazine

Wigleaf is an online literary magazine founded in 2008 by Scott Garson, dedicated to publishing very short fiction, typically under 500 words. From its inception, Wigleaf has championed the flash fiction form, treating brevity not as a constraint but as a site of concentrated narrative power. The magazine's ethos is one of discernment and generosity: it seeks work that is immediate, resonant, and meticulously crafted, often blending the quotidian with the surreal. Over time, Wigleaf has become a central node in the flash fiction community, not only through its regular issues but also via the annual Wigleaf Top 50, a widely respected list that highlights the best very short fiction published each year.
