Colectivo R.A.R.O. was born in Buenos Aires, in early 2014, resulting from its founders’ interest to generate spaces for reflection and production for artists, curators, and cultural managers. R.A.R.O. proposes an Itinerant Residency program that currently extends to Madrid. Since its inception, the R.A.R.O. team has formed a solid base of local artists’ ateliers in which other artists can come to develop their own projects. Currently, it has a total of 17 adjoining spaces in Buenos Aires, each of them directed by artists of wide and medium trajectory, from different disciplines. How does it work? The key element to R.A.R.O.’s Itinerant Residencies is the opportunity to create, collaborate and travel through various artist spaces during the residence period. The resident can work in a minimum of 2 ateliers for at least 3 weeks and deepen into one or several techniques. During your stay, you can feature their work, have contact with local artists, curators, collectors, etc., and finally, you will be given the opportunity of generating an audiovisual record of the whole process and show the final work in the form of either an open studio or an exhibition. R.A.R.O.’s Residencies are aimed at artists, curators, and cultural managers, both emerging and established, national or international coming from all disciplines who are interested in itinerant residences and who want to share ateliers with local artists for artwork production. The duration of each residence varies according to the schedules established by the interested artists and by the R.A.R.O. ateliers. Stays are at least 3 weeks long and have no maximum time.
Established in 1984, Collective has long supported new work by artists who are at a pivotal stage in their development. In November 2018, Collective opened its new home on Calton Hill, featuring the restored City Observatory, City Dome, and a purpose-built exhibition space. Their programme of exhibitions, walks, and events presents contemporary art in all its diversity. They provide artists with the opportunity to make new work and audiences the chance to see it here first. By inspiring, engaging with, and learning from the people and groups around, Collective aims to contribute to local, national, and international conversations. Satellites Programme Satellites Programme is the accelerated development programme which sits at the core of Collective. Through it, Collective aims to prepare the next generation of creative practitioners, supporting them to develop the confidence and critical skills they need to thrive. Satellites Programme is more than an exhibition opportunity. Participants have described it as a pivotal experience, due to the level of support received from Collective and the chance to develop through discursive engagement with a group of peers. It is encouraged that applications to Satellites are from across the spectrum of contemporary art and creative practice in Scotland including, but not limited to: studio-based material (paint, sculpture, paper, etc), photography, moving image, research, collaboration, curatorial, production, social engagement, activism, performance, writing, and critical enquiry.

ComPeung is not only the first independent AiR program in Thailand, but also the longest ongoing program since 2007. They have hosted over 100 artists in a wide variety of disciplines from around the world. As an evolving art project, ComPeung encourages artists to explore and discover – not only new ideas, techniques, and networks, but also themselves as human beings though the process of creative activities and everyday living. ComPeung aims to be an open space for dialogues, encouraging the exchange of ideas and experiments, and exploring the interdependence between art, artists and society. For artists who need time away from regular commitments to finish current projects, to reflect on their practice, or to explore and develop new works, ComPeung is the ideal place to do so. In an unregimented and relaxed atmosphere, artists have the freedom to focus on their work without having to worry about daily routines such as preparing meals. We hope that by living and working together in a tranquil setting with our team, the local community, and a small diverse group of artists, people will be inspired and challenged to explore possibilities and dreams. ComPeung offers genuine hospitality with fresh daily produce from the local market for delicious home-cooked meals, assistance where needed, and provides all the necessities for living in a semi-rural, tropical area.

The Contemporary Image Collective (CiC) is an independent non-profit arts initiative founded in Cairo, in 2004, by a group of visual artists and professional photographers. CiC's main goal is to establish long-term exchange programs with other cities and build up cooperation with regional and international institutions that have a long-standing experience working within this framework. CiC does not have a residency programme per se anymore, but instead invite artists on occasional residencies as part of their curated programming – ie, when the conversation, project or engagement with an artist is such that an extended residency stay becomes a good idea. Please check their website regularly for latest program information: http://www.ciccairo.com/forthcoming_programs.html

The wonderful building in the middle of pine forests, 10 minutes drive from the little town of Karjaa, only 1 hour west from the capital Helsinki, has 15,000m2 full of beautiful and inspiring spaces. Hub Feenix is run by a non-profit cooperative and its purpose is to create a space where life, creativity and joy of continuous learning can flourish.
