Montalvo has hosted resident artists since 1939; in 2004, the Sally and Don Lucas Artists Residency Program was created, with new facilities designed by six teams of artists and architects, and comprised of 10 discipline-specific live/work studios and one commons building. The residency offers facilities and staff supportive of the creative process, in an environment conducive to both individual practice and the energetic exchange of ideas among international and culturally diverse fellows. The residency has earned international recognition as a model of curatorial practice supporting new and challenging contemporary work. While at Montalvo, residents are granted time for solitary, creation and exploration, as well as the opportunity for stimulating interaction with colleagues. Residents are also provided ample opportunities to engage with the wider community of Silicon Valley through public presentations of and conversations about their work and process. The program’s international focus fosters a cultural and ethnic diversity that offers a variety of perspectives and a global framework of ideas. Shared dinners are especially significant, thanks to Montalvo’s unique Culinary Fellowship, and encourage residents to linger in a vibrant exchange of ideas that often continues long after their residencies come to an end. Montalvo's Culinary Program is designed to support chefs in gaining the experience of running their own kitchen and developing their repertoire. Through the program, they offer a Culinary Fellowship to a highly qualified chef, who lives on-site for a year, cooking for Artists-In-Residence; they also host Culinary Workshops and other cooking events/classes, and they maintain a garden of fresh herbs, vegetables, and a beehive - all providing food used in many of their Culinary Fellow's meals.

Montemero Art Residency is an organization dedicated to sustainable ecology and alternative art production. They believe that the experience of living and creating in a different context has to be facilitated through collaboration and exchange. Thus, they opened their facilities to artists for them to network and collaborate with professionals from other fields. The program offers a fully-equipped printmaking studio and other open spaces that are suitable for a variety of creative practices (from visual to performing arts and anything in between). Being located on a biological reserve near the Tabernas Desert, the location offers a unique perspective that aims to cultivate a personal connection with nature and how it functions, while further expanding the idea of eco-living. With minimal external interference, artists-in-residence have the opportunity to focus on themselves and their work in a way that more densely populated areas are unable to provide. The residency is open to people of all ages and backgrounds, and they welcome all those who are looking for space and time to explore new forms of interdisciplinary and intercultural collaboration. Although, the long-term objective of this program is to create an eco-art project, here some of their short-term goals: To create an environment and offer the facilities conducive to creative work, integrated with nature, a place to experience new perspectives and acquire new references. Promoting international collaboration and networking, to bring together people from different fields to share and promote ecological and cultural sustainability. Embrace and emphasize the experimental, the undefined, and unexpected states of creativity.

Mount Sequoyah is a welcoming space to celebrate and connect with people, land, and spirit. Mount Sequoyah and The Alternative Arts School (TAAS) are partnering to launch a two-week artistic residency program for the summer of 2026. This collaboration will bring together TAAS’s global pedagogical model and Mount Sequoyah’s unique regional setting to foster exchange between local and international artists. This place-based program that merges the intimacy of an in-person gathering with the global reach of TAAS’s year-round virtual school. Rooted in Ozark storytelling traditions, the residency brings together 12 artists for immersive workshops, field experiences, and deep studio time, alongside a full year of continued online community through TAAS membership. The residency centers storytelling as a living, regional practice—one shaped by the Ozark landscape and the deep Southern traditions of oral history, song, craft, and survival. Artists will explore how stories are carried through land, bodies, and materials, and how art becomes a vessel for telling what has often been held quietly, passed down, or coded over time. Rooted through a Ozark perspective, the program invites artists to examine how stories move through their work—how meaning is formed through process, gesture, memory, and making. The program provides time, space, and community for artists to deepen their practice while engaging the Ozark landscape and one another. Programming will include visits to regional art spaces, conversations with invited guest speakers rooted in local creative communities, and guided story-writing workshops and discussions. Participants will also take part in field experiences connected to seasonal cultural events, offering opportunities to observe how storytelling circulates through public gathering, celebration, and place. Storytelling is approached as a shared process of listening, exchange, and presence. Founded and chaired by Grażyna Kulczyk, since 2017 Art Stations Foundation CH is engaging in experimental approaches to contemporary art, cultural education, exhibitions and research. The foundation resides in a former vicarage, hospice and economic building once part of a rural monastery founded in 1157 at the foot of the Flüela Pass, on the pilgrim’s path to Rome and Santiago de Compostela. Including a brewery building added in the 19th century, these existing structures have been carefully restored and expanded to reflect the spirit of the location, comprising over 3,500 sqm with 1,500 sqm dedicated gallery space. In addition to permanent installations and temporary exhibitions, a public library and archive, the auditorium, restaurant and artist studios are encouraging exploratory journeys through experimental presentations and personal encounters in conferences, performances and lectures. Activities of the foundation are led by a clear vision dedicated to the redefinition of the canonical and the marginalized in contemporary art, not as a dominating force silencing others but as an influential voice for making other voices heard. Based on five pillars, MUZEUM SUSCH, DISPUTAZIUNS SUSCH, INSTITUTO SUSCH, ACZIUN SUSCH and TEMPORARS SUSCH, these activities are completing and complementing each other to create joint spaces for encounter, discourse and exchange. "Fermada sün dumonda"("Stop on request") are the words that welcome those arriving in Susch Situated there, is a medieval monastery that once offered a warm sojourn and respite to pilgrims on their journeys is now home to MUZEUM SUSCH and Art Stations Foundation CH. Starting in 2020, the Chasa (a house), in the historical complex, will again become a home for travellers participating in the new residency programme titled TEMPORARS SUSCH. In reference to the cultural, scientific and scholarly heritage of Friedrich Nietzsche, Thomas Mann, Vaslav Nijinsky and J.M. Basquiat who, amongst others, discovered the Engadin as a site of inspiration and intellectual debate, the programme is aimed for those who in conscious decision are prepared to make a "Fermada sün dumonda"("Stop on request") and engage in intellectual activities and research. Following its contemplative principle, Temporars Susch offers a stay for those in the state of flux, encouraging its residents to embrace and dive into cultural debates, and to sustain the continued reappraisal and critical analysis of (art)historical ideas. As a non-production-oriented programme, it stresses the need for, and points out the relevance of, critical reflection and self-reflection, of reconsideration and redefinition of stances, of deepened research and constant revisiting and reformulating of practices – we wish to nurture and challenge the residents' work and practices by providing them an input to think. TEMPORARS SUSCH provides artists of all disciplines, writers, as well as curators, cultural producers and researchers, from diverse backgrounds and career stages, with individual residencies. By offering the opportunity to unplug from routines of the everyday, the programme encourages its participants to explore and engage in producing ideas, dialogue, and cultural debates. Each year, the programme comprises four open-call residency slots, each hosting four to five residents and lasting two to for four weeks, depending on the individual needs of each resident.

The residency emphasizes process, reflection, and meaningful exchange over production quotas or fixed outcomes. The program is particularly suited for artists interested in heritage, sustainability, cultural dialogue, craftsmanship, and place-based practice

Narva Art Residency is a cultural space that operates thanks to a collaboration between the Estonian Academy of Arts, Narva Gate, and the Estonian Ministry of Culture. NART initiates and facilitates residencies, art exhibitions, public events of many kinds, and hosts educational activities. The center welcomes a multitude of visitors and guests and has become close with the Narva community. The residency is located on the Estonian-Russian border city of Narva. NART is in the historic Kreenholm area which came about when a textile manufacturing company was founded in the mid-19th century. It was once the largest of its kind in Europe and Russia. Now it stands vacant but has become a source of inspiration for artists and a space allowing experiments. NART is housed in a historic villa, which was once home to the director of factory. The Residence: The house is located in Tagle, Suances Town Hall, Cantabria, in the north of Spain. They are immersed in a geographical space full of human activity for many thousands of years and with an important heritage of Palaeolithic art. Altamira, Monte Castillo and Covalanas are the best known examples of the many existing caves in the region that preserve our first works of art. Many thousands of years ago, a first person looked for the elements, generated the pigments, elaborated the tools, selected the space, observed the environment in detail, decided that he / she wanted to capture, went into the depth and darkness of a cave and, once there, in an awkward position, he / she created. Creating means making something out of nothing. The origin of art is what guides the organisers in their art programs, taking it as a reference for a new beginning and nature as the starting point to achieve it. It is always a good time to start, restart, explore changes, look for new languages, or simply step out of our comfort zone. Surrounded by this magic and its surroundings, our residents from all disciplines of the arts will develop their projects here. Andrea Juan and Gabriel Penedo Diego will carry out continuous monitoring and support on the evolution of your project to encourage and stimulate its development until, at the end of the residency, you have transformed it into a work. They offer to the Artists: • Accommodation for 12 nights in a private room. • Amenities consisting of food and cleaning supplies for individual or general use such as coffee, tea, milk, cookies, oil, rice, etc. Fresh products or those not included in the detailed list in the annex “Price and Conditions” will be paid by the resident. • Transfer of the group to and from the city of Santander (or its airport) on your arrival and on your departure. • Visit at the National Museum of Altamira, including tickets and transfers, accompanied by Andrea and Gabriel. • Visits, in two days, to the caves with Rock Art of El Pendo, Las Monedas, El Castillo and Covalanas. Includes entrance fees, transfers and lunches and the full-time guide of Andrea and Gabriel. • Guidance and advice in the development of your work through individual and group talks, daily visualization and monitoring of your work in progress by Andrea Juan and Gabriel Penedo Diego. • Artists will be included to this site, in “Artists”, spreading the works carried out during your residency.
