About the residency

Acción Cultural Española (AC/E) is a public agency established in 2010 through the merger of the Sociedad Estatal para la Acción Cultural Exterior (SEACEX) and the Sociedad Estatal de Conmemoraciones Culturales (SECC). Its founding ethos is to promote and disseminate Spanish culture both within Spain and internationally, fostering dialogue and exchange across borders. AC/E supports a wide range of cultural expressions—from visual arts and literature to performing arts and heritage—through grants, exhibitions, and collaborative programs. Its core mission is to strengthen the presence of Spanish culture abroad while facilitating international cultural cooperation, often acting as a bridge between Spanish creators and global audiences.

Planning your application

Artists and cultural organizations should approach AC/E with well-defined projects that demonstrate clear international or intercultural relevance. Familiarize yourself with their specific calls and programs, as they vary in scope and eligibility. Proposals should align with AC/E's mission of promoting Spanish culture abroad, and applications must adhere strictly to guidelines and deadlines. Building relationships with AC/E's partner institutions can also enhance chances of support. It is advisable to present a compelling case for how the project contributes to Spain's cultural presence internationally, with a realistic budget and timeline.
