About the residency

ARTS Southeast is a Savannah-based nonprofit arts organization dedicated to supporting contemporary artists in the Southeastern United States. Founded with a mission to foster experimentation and professional growth, it provides residencies, exhibitions, and community programs that connect local and regional artists to broader dialogues. Its ON::View Artist Residency, for example, offers a focused period for research and production, often culminating in a public presentation. The organization emphasizes process over polish, encouraging artists to take risks and engage with the Savannah community.

Planning your application

Artists should approach ARTS Southeast with a clear sense of how their work engages with place, community, or experimentation. Proposals for residencies like ON::View should articulate a specific project or line of inquiry, demonstrating feasibility within the given timeframe. While there is no strict house style, the organization values authenticity and critical rigor over polished presentation. It is advisable to review past residents and exhibitions to understand the range of practices supported. Applications are typically accepted via online portals, with deadlines announced on the website and social media.
