Fife Contemporary is an independent visual art & craft organisation based in St Andrews, Fife, Scotland. Our programme is not delivered from a single venue but across Fife, through varied partnerships in all kinds of places. We are also developing the digital services available to an even larger audience through this site. Fife Contemporary’s origins Fife Contemporary has been in existence since 2006, but its roots can be found in the Crawford Arts Centre, a long established venue in St Andrews that closed its doors in 2006. Since 2006, a small staff team has forged strong links with the artist community in Fife and beyond, and works in partnership with a wide range of organisations within Fife, the UK and internationally to bring exciting contemporary visual art & craft projects to life. Exhibitions are at the heart of Fife Contemporary’s interest in creating activity which is multi-disciplinary in approach and outcome. People of all ages are also engaged through varied participatory activity. A unique network has been built for artists in Fife and beyond, providing information and opportunities for them to meet and develop their work. Part of Fife Contemporary’s programme involves craft development. New graduates and makers are now supported by Materialise which includes an online exhibition & residency opportunity. Fife Contemporary’s online shop sells past exhibition publications, artist multiples, craft items from Materialise artists and our CARE project. This has been limited due to Covid-19 with the hope to expand it again soon. Fife Contemporary organises artists’ residencies in partnership with other organisations. As of May 2021, there are two open calls: Marchmont House & Creative Informatics Residency Studio-Access Artist Residency at Birnam Arts Please refer to the FCAC website to be informed about the description and conditions of each call.

Florìda is a cultural space located in the old Jewish Ghetto in Genoa's historic center. It is an experimental project that aims to promote social and urban development through the tools of art, co-creation, and international artistic mobility. The goal is to enhance new lifestyles and enjoyment of the territory by counteracting the tendency of its inhabitants to abandon the historic center, with a particular focus on young people. The association hosts artists in residence, organizes exhibitions, and facilitates artistic collaborations to strengthen the local social and creative network, believing that artistic practice is an opportunity for contamination and enrichment for all parties involved. Since 2023, Florìda has hosted ten artists in residence, realized three international exhibitions, three artistic residencies for Academy students, and five 'Small Talks', a free and open dinner formula animated by a dialogue on artistic practices and contemporary cities. The association has also collaborated with several organizations and cultural institutions operating in the historic center of Genoa. They will be rolling out the program as both an invite-only and an open call. If you did not find a residency call that fits you and you want to express interest in our AiR program, the organisers encourage you to express your interest throughout the year if you have a project or are interested in working in our shared studio for a while. The yearly program includes four Artist Residencies. 1 to 4 artists will work together each trimester in the studio space.
Since 1994, Flux Factory has offered an informal, artist-run, and collective residency program comprised of a changing community of creative collaborators, including (but not limited to) artists, community organizers, urban agriculturalists, educators, curators, builders, game designers and musicians. As a community, they value communication, co-creation, accountability, experimentation, and safe space. They offer short & long-term residencies, work facilities, as well as direct exhibition and programmatic opportunities. There are typically 15 cultural creators in residence at Flux Factory at any given time. Since introducing the formal residency program in 2009, more than two hundred cultural producers from all over the United States, South Africa, Myanmar, Turkey, Italy, Germany, China, France, Mexico, Denmark, Russia and Peru have completed residencies. Flux’s history as a DIY family is deep in their DNA. Residents collaborate and learn from one another to realize new works, propose and produce our public programming, and have equal input in the overall direction of the organization. Fluxers spearhead Flux Factory’s programming, including Flux Factory exhibitions and public programs. Residents who are here for 6 months or longer have 10 days in our gallery, and residents who are here from 3-6 months have 4 days. Each year we hold an Artists-In-Residence exhibition. The open call for Fluxers is posted twice a year. Residency duration varies between three, six, nine, and twelve months, depending on availability. As a part of a community-run center for artists, Flux Factory residents are asked to take part in the creation and maintenance of its facilities and programming. On Monday nights, all Flux Factory residents and administrators attend a weekly meeting (which also includes a gigantic dinner!) so that they may foster a sense of community and discuss the evolving needs of the program. Residents are asked to put in volunteer hours toward space renovation and a weekly chore. They are frequently renovating the building–a process that would be impossible without the dedicated network of volunteers. A constantly changing physical and social environment, Flux is always a work-in-progress, and there are many opportunities to leave one’s mark. The Flux Factory residency is tailored to American and international cultural producers of all stripes, social activists, academics, and anyone who’s creative, adventurous, and willing to come to New York City to create new bodies of work that are informed by their experience here. They are especially keen to have artists who have a socially collaborative art practice, and have experience working collectively.
