About the magazine

Asymptote is a leading international journal dedicated to literary translation and world literature. Founded in 2011 by Lee Yew Leong, it was established to challenge the dominance of English-language literature by showcasing translated works from around the globe. The journal publishes poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and drama, with a strong emphasis on works in translation, alongside original English-language pieces that engage with global perspectives. Its core mission is to foster cross-cultural understanding and to provide a platform for voices that might otherwise remain unheard in the Anglophone world.

Submitting your work

Reading periodOpen now

Asymptote welcomes submissions of translations into English as well as original English-language works that engage with international themes. Before submitting, carefully review the current call for submissions, as the journal often organizes content around specific themes. Translations should be accompanied by the original text and a brief note on permissions. Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but please notify the editors promptly if your work is accepted elsewhere. Asymptote values literary quality, cultural significance, and the translator's craft; ensure your submission reflects these priorities.
