Ecotone: Reimagining Place
ClosedAbout the magazine
Editorial focus
Each issue of Ecotone brings together the literary and scientific, the personal and biological, the urban and rural.
Submitting your work
Writers should familiarize themselves with Ecotone's aesthetic by reading recent issues, available online and in print. Submissions are accepted via Submittable during designated reading periods, typically for poetry, fiction, and nonfiction. The magazine values work that is deeply engaged with place, whether rural, urban, or imagined, and that demonstrates a strong sense of craft. Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but please notify promptly if your work is accepted elsewhere. Include a brief cover letter with your submission, and adhere to the specified word limits. For current subscribers, there are occasional special calls, such as for poetry, so subscribing can provide additional opportunities.
Much of the writing we publish addresses the idea of place—overlapping habitats both real and aesthetic. It aims to bridge the gap between science and culture, to break out of the pen of the purely literary and wander freely among the disciplines. Please check the website’s submission guidelines for the most up-to-date information.
