Matt Bell

Matt Bell is a Michigan-born writer who teaches creative writing at Arizona State University. He is the author of the novel Appleseed (2021), which was a New York Times Notable Book. His short fiction has appeared in Wigleaf, Hayden's Ferry Review, Willow Springs, Fairy Tale Review, Sundog Lit, and phoebe, among other magazines. He has also written criticism for The New York Times, Esquire, and Tin House. Bell has worked as an editor at Dzanc Books and ran The Collagist, according to a 2011 interview. His short story collection A Tree or a Person or a Wall was published in 2016.
