From April until October, the residency is open for proposals. Konvent is a late XIX century nun’s convent and textile colony that has been converted into a multidisciplinary arts centre. It’s a space for art and way of understanding and undertaking cultural practices that are rooted in the territory. Konvent is a creative space that breathes life into disused industrial heritage. It’s a former nun’s convent and textile colony that has been converted into an experimental laboratory both on a personal and artistic level where a diversity of projects converge, especially those which have no place in the frame of institutional culture. The residencies at Konvent have the goal of becoming a platform to aid artists and creators by providing the adequate conditions of space and concentration required for investigation in a unique environment such as the Cal Rosal textile colony. For 2023, they offer a new residency format in which they propose 7 different open calls with specific dates for each call. For the 2023 residency edition, they have chosen themes that move them personally, representing the diversity that exists within artistic creation and our society, choosing to emphasize groups and disciplines that have historically been underrepresented, and making true on the commitment that is given to us as a centre of and for contemporary art and culture, to evolve as a people and society.

Kulturkollektiv Goetheschule is characterized by painters, graphic artists, musicians, graffiti artists, glassblowers, photographers, filmmakers, theatre people and other creative people of all ages working together and side by side. In the depths of the Thuringian Forest, in the spirit of BAUHAUS, they are once again combining craftsmanship and art. Events such as exhibitions, concerts, readings, workshops, theatre plays, poetry slams, and their own contributions to Lauscha events and a small library bring these artistic and cultural resources to the outside world. Under the motto ‘Art needs space and appreciation’, they rented the former Goethe School Lauscha in 2014 and made all three floors accessible. The entire building has been transferred to the care of the association under heritable building rights. Much of the renovation work has been completed, but the process is not yet finished. Goals of the Residency Program: 1. To promote the diverse artistic exploration of Lauscha – the city of glass. 2. To connect national and international Artists/Makers with the local/regional art and creative scene. 3. To provide input and inspiration for the international glass scene, as well as that of Lauscha. Ideally the residence program will contribute to the reissuing and continuation of international glass symposia in Lauscha. The Federal Cultural Foundation and the Thuringian State Chancellery have provided start-up funding for the establishment of the residency and the launch of the program. The Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Thuringia has been funding the program since 2018. During the one-month residency, artists receive free accommodation and private studio usage, as well as a €1,000 grant. Networking with local artists is encouraged.

The basic idea is to make a “Culture-Integration-Dialogue” with different artists of the lands out of Europe and inside Europe. The hosts want to activate this little town of Quedlinburg in art. This town have now only a very long history of middleaged kings residences and old architecture. Many people are workless or were gone after opening the German-German borderline. In actual time only commercial interests, tourism, and the typical capitalismus effects of to have no money and a consciousness only about money, work and television rules the minds of the people. This is a humanistic project against: Consumerism, Stereotypes, Separation ……. of people and values. This project wants to connect well-minded-persons together. This project wants to bring back the values of humanism in our Post-Modernism time. The resident artist have the possibility to research the visiting region of middle-east Germany in context of the German east-west-conflict and the contemporary situation now. The resident artist have to work about: global “Integration”, human universal values local “After the Wall against the Border”, research about the local history This art residence is a first step to bring together different artists for later concerted work in this subject in a bigger “Culture-Integration-Project” with (in actual time now) partners in Russia and Armenia. About the host: Narine Zolyan is an artist with more than hundered exhibitions and curator in twenty different art projects, exhibitions and biennals, in this works of children and culturologic schoolprojects with students about “tree of the world”, “modernism”, and so on. 18 Years education works in normal and higher schools, 6 Years higher stuff for scientific work in the Ervard Kochar Museum Erevan, Member of the UNESCO artists community TCXP “International Federation of Artists, professional and creative Union of Artists and Graphic Designers and National Artists Union of Russia”

Yearly, arts centre BUDA welcomes around 45 artists (individuals and companies) to come, work and live for about a month in Kortrijk, Belgium. BUDA fine-tunes measure made residency programs for visiting artists, to make sure their research and creation takes place in optimal circumstances. They create a zone where artists can work, collaborate and experiment in a professional environment without feeling the pressure to perform. There are five studio’s (Budatoren) to work and two theatre halls (Budascoop). Residents can stay overnight in one of the two residency houses. If wanted, BUDA organises informal presentations of the outcome to a specific audience called ‘the compañeros’ – people who are used to watch showings and give their feedback afterwards, somewhere in between professional eyes and formal audiences.
The Development Programme offers the context of Kunsthal Gent - an experimental intersection for contemporary art, located in a 13th-century monastery in the centre of Ghent - as a workspace and an opportunity for the development of artistic practice. Six artists, collectives, small organisations or collaboration initiatives per year are offered a Development Fellowship of up to 3 months: a period of research and development, tailored with and around each selected participant, supported by a team of collaborators and invited guests. Participants are challenged to leave their mark on Kunsthal Gent’s public programme (running parallel to the exhibition programme) in experimental ways. The underlying ambition of Kunsthal Gent is to grow a network of participants, connected organisations and experts that will be beneficial beyond the fellowship period and provide a stimulus for the wider (local) arts community. There is a significant document where you can find out much more about the spirit of Kunsthal Gent: their USER’S MANUAL . The first draft of this booklet explains what the organisation is made of, how it is set up, whom it is for, how it can be used and what it can offer. It is made for all users (this includes the public), partner organisations and artists. For the Development Programme they are looking for artists, collectives, small organisations or collaboration initiatives with a significant need to explore a new direction, and/or to experiment with ideas one didn’t have the support or courage to pursue yet. The organisers encourage the artists to look for partners and potential collaborators (another artist, a curator, theoretician, an expert in another field, a local organisation, ...) that can work with them on the proposed plan. It is possible for a team of collaborators to apply. The Development Programme supports contemporary visual arts, and is open for practices at the intersection with other artistic disciplines and fields. Kunsthal Gent’s broad approach transcends the classical definitions of artist, curator, critic and designer and at the same time breaks down divisions between individual, collective and organisation. They welcome development proposals by visual arts practitioners of any age, gender, career phase and cultural background and strive for diversity in the programme. For the duration of the fellowship, the participant should not be a student or taking part in another support structure. These profiles can, of course, be part of the team around a selected proposal. How the programme supports artistic development: They challenge artists to propose a plan for a significant development of their practice, that can work in the context of Kunsthal Gent. They support development plans with time, space and a budget that makes collaboration and dialogue with relevant expert(s) or colleague(s) possible. The total budget of a development proposal can be up to €5.000 all-in, to be used according to the needs of the proposal. This includes an artist fee, travel, production costs, taxes etc. From this, they reserve €500 for costs made directly by Kunsthal (e.g. public moments, fees for externals, documentation costs). They offer a dynamic context to work in and to share your process with colleagues and audiences. The development programme runs alongside and intersects with Kunsthal Gent’s exhibition and public programmes. The duration of a residency follows from the plan and needs of the participant(s). It can be short, specific and intense, or longer and more spread out. The organisers think the provided budget is good for a maximum of 3 months. Longer engagements are possible, but will need an extra budget that the proposed plan should cater for (through additional subsidy, collaboration or co-production). There are three periods per year that each host two development fellowships (following the rhythm of Kunsthal Gent’s opening weekends at the end of January, May and September of each year). New periods start in February, June/July and October and run until the following opening weekend. Each 3 month period they will host one local/national and one international artist/collective/organization. International artists are offered an apartment inside Kunsthal Gent.

Located on the shores of Lake Geneva, in La Tour-de-Peilz, between Vevey and Montreux, and close to Switzerland’s main cultural and natural attractions, La Becque | Artists Residency welcomes artists from all walks of life, inviting its residents to develop their project in an exceptional living and working environment. Aimed at both emerging and established artists, duo or collective from all backgrounds and disciplines, the Principal Residency Program pays particular attention to projects that explore the interplay between nature, the environment, and technology, notions that are more intertwined than ever and that lie at the heart of contemporary concerns. Located on an exceptional slice of lakeside land in La Tour-de-Peilz, between Vevey and Montreux, La Becque address these notions in a particularly rich environment of both obvious and ambivalent beauty. The site of La Becque, with its lush garden on the shores of Lake Geneva, offers a particularly autonomous landscape from which to draw ideas, while the garden, which is partly inspired by British artist and activist Derek Jarman, offers a unique entry point into the way we like to think about the above themes. La Becque’s residency program offers its residents time for reflection, rather than focusing on artistic production. Deeply convinced of the importance of such moments in the artistic process, La Becque is primarily interested in facilitating the phases of research, reflection, and other modes of transition, rather than capitalizing on creation.
