Uniarte is an independent non-profit foundation that provides a platform for artists, curators and cultural agents involved in research, experimentation, production and dissemination of contemporary artistic practices from and about the Caribbean. Uniarte wants to inspire and be inspired, and uses a common space for being together, learning and developing not only for artists themselves, but also by connecting the public more with art & cultural programming. Uniarte works on different lines of action that intersect and complement each other, to provide spaces for meetings and conversations about art practices, in dialogue with social and political realities of the island and region. The organization strives for a dialogue between local and international professionals and projects that share ideas and are skills related to art production. The foundation focuses primarily on supporting the so-called emerging artists, while at the same time creating a platform where emerging artists, mid-career and established artists can meet and connect with each other. In addition to the artists themselves, this also has advantages for the overall artistic development in Curaçao and the position of art in Curaçao in the international art world. Through its network of artists and projects, Uniarte creates awareness about Caribbean history and culture, social and political issues. The foundation also brings new and often under-represented but relevant art forms and movements to the attention of the community. In this way Uniarte also promotes an introduction and interpretation to what contemporary art is for the general public in order to promote discourse in the community in Curaçao. The critical reflection that will be generated from this discourse is also necessary for the emerging artists for the development of speaking about their work and their growth as an artist in general. Uniarte its mission is thus to provide a structural contribution to the visibility, development, growth and existence of emerging professional artists to increase public involvement in contemporary art through exhibitions, lectures and other art & culture related projects and programming. The Uniarte residency in Willemstad, Curaçao, is open to visual artists, curators, performers, cultural agents and researchers, and will grant the resident the opportunity to house their individual practice and undergo a collaborate project with other artists and/or community members. This residency invites the resident to develop and undertake a specific research question that will enhance their individual practice and that is related to the (Dutch) Caribbean context and encourages the resident to experiment on things they have not done before. Through this residency the resident will have the self-responsibility to get more experience by presenting their work to the local audience, engage in discussions and crit sessions with local artists and visitors, have a tangible outcome like workshop, lecture sessions or exhibition, and further develop the professional skills needed to support and sustain their practice. Residents will benefit from the insight by active studio members of Uniarte and through studio visits and location or events across the island.

The residency program of United Cowboys is embedded in the overall Artistic Goals of United Cowboys and offers artists from different disciplines the opportunity to develop and present their work at the Art House in Eindhoven. United Cowboys believes in the importance of contributing to further developments of (international) art circuits to stimulate collaboration and exchange in order to come to new forms of creation, participation and presentation. The Art House, with its two rehearsal studios, a smaller studio, a few offices and accommodation for longer stays, is perfectly suited to offer accommodation to artists in residency - both national and international artists - who can develop a project here, finalize it and open it to an audience. In addition United Cowboys invites artists in residence to join a dialogue with the artistic directors of United Cowboys and other artists from Eindhoven. The term 'Residencies' is used in the broader sense of the word: it goes beyond simply allowing other choreographers to work in the building in the sense of ‘place of production’. The idea is to extend the invitation to artists from all disciplines. More specifically: artists who work from a similar mission as United Cowboys or who join in their world-vision. Essential is mutual enrichment, nurturing and improving the exchange with various art forms. Note: the guest creator/artist does not have to work with United Cowboys. The point is an exchange between artists who lift themselves above the ‘usual’ and who together will find a way to showcase their mutual creations. United Cowboys has a strong bond with the cultural field in Eindhoven. The idea is that the temporary artist-in-residence showcases his/her work at the Art House, but also connects with the city cultural circuit. The audience also plays a role in the communication and openness. In order to meet the guest artist, meetings with the general public will be made possible, just as open rehearsals, questions-and-answer sessions, etc. With the exchange, United Cowboys wants to build a long-term relationship with artists/creators and international residency places. The important thing is that the investigation, the artistic process is central. The Art House as artistic ‘home’, the network as artistic platform, the whole an artistic web from which every fibre adds to innovation, communication and exchange. It is also important that a clear artistic profile is given to the place and the programme. The artistic team of United Cowboys will be leading and curating; they instigate the dialogue and stimulate the discussion. With Seasoning United Cowboys has already invited various artists from all disciplines over the past years and offered them a research place, a house to meet and discuss and a stage on which they, together with other disciplines, have provided multi-disciplinary evenings to the general public.

Residencies take place at Usine Utopik, located in the old horticultural greenhouse of Tessy-sur-Vire, a village with about 1500 inhabitants. Artists can participate in live-in residencies where they realize specific projects, conduct research, or develop new directions in artistic practice, which will result in an exhibition. Usine Utopik organises six residencies a year, from spring to fall, and welcomes three artists at the same time. This set-up demands collaboration between the artists for the final exhibition. During the residency the artists are asked to question their work regarding the territory, its history and its geography. The residency takes place for a period of 54 days. The artist needs to be present at least 45 days during this period. If the artist needs some time off for professional reasons, to participate in other exhibitions for example, they can take a maximum of three consecutive days off (with a total of 9 days) on the condition that this is compatible with the planning of the residency. If this agreement is not respected, the artist gets a penalty of €50 per day of absence

The Van Doesburg house is an artist residency. Anyone wishing to stay at the Van Doesburg house must work professionally in the arts, in one of the disciplines in which Theo and Nelly were active – the visual arts, design, architecture, literature and the performing arts. Furthermore, the artistic practice of the resident in one way or another is characterized by pushing the artistic boundaries and exploring, merging and or experimenting with different art forms within an international context. viadellafucina16 is an international artist-in-residency programme launched by Kaninchen-Haus in 2017, with the aim of giving life to the world’s first experiment of a Condominium-Museum. The residency occurs within a 19th-century building, that we find today in a complete state of abandon and decline. More than two hundreds people of different nationalities inhabit this apartment complex located in the heart of the Turin’s district Porta Palazzo, where the biggest open market in Europe rises. Through an international open call, whose 1st edition received 442 candidacies, artists have been invited to realize their artwork in the common areas of the building, with the purpose of promoting its regeneration and activating a dialogue among the different communities of tenants. The winning projects have been selected by the inhabitants themselves (about 200 of various nationalities, living in 53 apartments) together with a committee of curators and insiders, on the basis of the artists’ ability to engage the community in the design and production of the artworks, to interpret the community’s desires and to activate new forms of sociality through a process of co-creation and collective care. The apartment complex – a place where we experience the first form of democracy, and intersection point between the public and the private domain – opens itself to the artistic practice as an activator of aesthetic and social regeneration. It becomes thus a symbolic space where a community can represent itself, in the same way as, in the past, artwork inside palaces used to represent the prestige of noble families. The work done in a bit more than an year made the complex a multifunctional hub for artistic and cultural production and a unique workshop for social innovation. The artists are hosted inside the Condominium-Museum, within an apartment managed by Kaninchen-Haus. They have access to the office, the meeting room, the bookshop – cafeteria ( former doorman’s quarters) and a collective studio facing the shared garden (300 sqm). Moreover, artists can exhibit and set up their projects and artworks both in the common areas or in the exhibition spaces managed by Kaninchen-Haus, inside the building. In order to make the project replicable. the entire process is constantly documented and monitored by a young team of sociologist from the University of Turin . viadellafucina16 constructs itself as an innovative juncture between the artistic practice and the living fabric of a defined community that, by experimenting within a small context, aspires to prove how art and culture can become effective tools to solve conflicts and lead to a collective transformation. The 2nd edition of VIADELLAFUCINA16 residency programme is addressed to artists and curators, regardless of age, gender or nationality. The organizers are particularly interested in emerging or professional artists and curators, whose researches demonstrate a coherence with the concept of Condominium-Museum and its guidelines, or more in general, with the thematic that Kaninchen-Haus has examined over the course of its history. Actions and artworks to be realized in the common spaces of the Condominium-Museum (hall, garden, terrace, five floors, stairs) as well as cultural activities able to engage with the community of the Condominium and/or the neighborhood, enabling new relations and dialogues. By way of example, they could be: paintings, graphics, light or interactive installations, audiovisuals experiments or films, performances, action in the garden, and in general, participatory and relational activities, able to forecast since the beginning, the possibility of being modified, developed by the live interactions and exchanges with the communities; projects addressed to the local community, the neighborhood, the district of Porta Palazzo, or a specific target located in the city of Turin; workshop or seminar proposals; projects development about the relation between art and new technologies.
