Prisma is a volunteer-led and volunteer-operated cultural association in the most diverse quarter of central Lisbon (Martim Moniz). They are a collective of expert curators, cultural managers, and artists. The space exists to provide opportunities for emerging artists. Artists from various practices are invited to participate in the residency program. The program can host up to 5 artists at a time, they provide accommodation, a shared atelier space, access to support, and opportunities for collaboration with cultural actors in the city. The residency is run alongside an exhibition program and a schedule of cultural events in which residents are encouraged to participate and collaborate. The artists will be immersed in Lisbon’s vibrant underground artistic community, engaging in their eclectic program of events, schedule of exhibitions, and collaborating with community members. The residency welcomes artists and organizers from diverse practices and backgrounds, researchers, curators, and critics for 1-3 months. Either as a resident or for those already in Lisbon, a studio residency. They offer residents the possibility to explore techniques, concepts, ideas, and collaborations, to develop a final project. Throughout you will receive curatorial guidance and support from our welcoming community. For bookings exceeding three months or for emerging artists, please reach out to them for a reduced fee. At the end of the program, each resident will be offered the opportunity to exhibit their works in a final exhibition, publication, workshop, open studio, or performance in the gallery space in Prisma. The organisers are looking for community-minded participants, keen to become immersed in this project, who must be motivated and self-directed. This program is available to all cultural practitioners. You will make the most of this opportunity by spending time in the studio and participating in curation sessions. You are willing to engage and share knowledge through talks, seminars, workshops, or exhibitions. Here you can find more info for the 2027 Open Call .
PrivatePrint is an interdisciplinary curatorial studio that builds a network culture through collaborations, events, residences, and publications. Since 2015, our work has been dedicated to opening space to culturally and socially emerging critical topics, non-institutional and alternative curatorial and art practices, critical design, and more. With interdisciplinarity and publishing as primary work methods, PrivatePrint brings together a spectrum of collaborators, including researchers, artists, activists, designers, cultural workers, and practitioners with diverse expertise. Founded by Ilija Prokopiev and Marija Hristova, PrivatePrint operates locally and internationally with bases in Skopje (North Macedonia) and Ljubljana (Slovenia). The PrivatePrint Art and Culture Residency program welcomes artists, curators, writers, researchers, and others interested in interdisciplinary approaches to contemporary art, socially relevant topics, and engagement with local communities. At the PrivatePrint Residency, you can develop an ongoing interest, research, or project that you wish to extend in a different context, or you can start something new by learning from the people and communities around our studio. We work together to make your stay in Skopje and at PrivatePrint Studio meaningful. The residency is organized according to the needs of your research or project. One of the most important outcomes we are happy to offer our residents is the opportunity to select and edit materials generated during their stay and feature them in a periodical publication by PrivatePrint. Activities we can support include workshops, community engagement, small-scale exhibitions of materials and documentation, presentations and lectures, writing, research, explorations, and similar activities.
