Editorial focus
swamp pink publishes fiction, poetry, and nonfiction on a semimonthly basis. Its aim is to publish exceptional work from writers at all stages of their careers. The editors are particularly interested in submissions from writers of color and writers from underrepresented communities.
Submitting your work
Before submitting, read several issues to understand the journal's aesthetic, which favors work that is surreal, lyrical, or otherwise unconventional. For nonfiction, they seek essays that push against traditional narrative forms and explore themes of identity, memory, and the natural world. Submissions are accepted via their online portal; simultaneous submissions are permitted with prompt notification of acceptance elsewhere. They prioritize work from underrepresented voices and offer modest payment for accepted pieces. Response times vary, but queries are welcome after three months.
