Baltan is an interdisciplinary platform for future thinking, based in Eindhoven. By bridging the gaps between disciplines, they evoke new ideas, insights, and narratives for our future society. This program is part of Baltans research theme Homo Socialis that revolves around social cohesion, community and (in)equality. It focusses on the different roles of people in society and how they affect each other. Occupy Baltan Social Design Residency 2021 Baltan Laboratories and the Occupants program offer a 4-month residency on sensible social design projects with Eindhoven’s local communities. They are looking for projects that focus on a collaboration with the local community in Eindhoven. Applications should focus on specific needs, or urgent topics for the local community. Social Design practices often involve a mix of different professions, interests, and backgrounds. Creatives enter unknown contexts where they meet and get to interact with communities, that all have their own cultural background and personal story. Within this residency the initiators want to shed extra light on the development of a fair and respectful process for all involved parties. This means besides working in the field they will keep testing out the sensibility of the process and collect the results to contribute for possible application in the social design sector. You are invited to occupy and use Baltan as an instrument for change on a personal and societal level. Occupying also means being immersed in one’s work or a topic that occupies not only our minds but even our lifestyle. We are constantly the occupier and the occupied, consciously and unconsciously. It is about seeing potential for hacking this residency as well as Baltans network, knowledge, status, and attention. With this mentality Baltan is now looking for 3 individuals/collectives to occupy the lab for a period of 4 months. Is it you we are looking for? Baltan is looking for people or collectives working with an art or design driven approach, incorporating other disciplines from different sciences and technology. You should be interested in actively questioning institutions and established working dynamics during your occupation. Baltan does not expect you to have a rooted practice in the field as we are especially looking for starters disregarding age or background. People living and working in Eindhoven/ Noord-Brabant are especially encouraged to apply. • presence and availability from the beginning September 2021 till the end of December 2021 • at least 2 days per week dedicated for the project and available for meetings especially on Tuesdays • an autonomous and proactive mindset • interest to work with people, communities and institutions (focused on Eindhoven region)

BAR project is an independent, mobile and non-profit organization dedicated to promote artistic exchange through local, national and international residencies and collaborations, and by developing a public program issued from curatorial and research projects. BAR project gets its name from one of the quintessential social gathering places in our culture in order re-contextualize it and be able to work from there. That place is the popular coffee and beer bar, thought as the right scenario in order to conceive our lines of thought. BAR project develops a residency program in Barcelona that is conceived as a platform for the internationalization of the local context by making connections between artists and other agents of the sector from a critical and independent perspective. By an invitation process BAR welcomes international artists and curators to come to Barcelona during different periods and following different types of residencies. BAR project is a platform which doesn’t have its own venue. Its residencies are possible thanks to different partners and collaborators, who are able to provide BAR’s residents with an apartment on the Eixample area of Barcelona, workshops, located in the production centre Fabra i Coats, and with material and economic budget. Furthermore, the different art centres within the city – institutional and independent- as well as a variety of agents of the local artistic scene, they all participate in the programs’s activities and visits.

Barracão Maravilha’s international residency program is an opportunity open to artists, curators and academics from the whole world who wish to explore their practice in a vibrant and challenging new context; meet new people, materials and experience first hand what it is like to live and work in the city of Rio de Janeiro. Inspired by a sense of simplicity and the desire to collaborate with Rio’s cultural landscape, Barracão Maravilha is a revered independent studio and gallery space where horizons meet and pivotal moments are shared between artists and the public. This residency is aimed at autonomous professionals who wish to expand their knowledge and challenge their practice on an international level. Individuals who wish to immerse themselves in the fabric of the city, produce and present new work. The program offers a professional mentor active in the contemporary art scene such as a renowned artist or curator. The mentor will follow the artist-in-residence's progress with a view to help them realize a public presentation of the work carried out during the residency which can be in the format of a text, exhibition, talk or workshop. In 2011 Barracão Maravilha's studio expanded over the entire building and began to invite other artists to work in the space, professionals specializing in visual arts production. The organization also has an extensive portfolio of large cultural projects management for public and private clients such as the Museum of Modern Art in Rio , the World Wildlife Fund , OESTUDIO , Fundação Cultural Palmares and Western Cape Government .
