About the magazine

Porter House Review is the literary journal of the University of Chicago's Graham School, founded in 2015 to publish compelling fiction, poetry, and nonfiction that engages with the complexities of contemporary life. Rooted in the university's tradition of rigorous inquiry, the journal seeks work that is intellectually curious and formally ambitious, without sacrificing emotional resonance. Its mission is to provide a platform for both emerging and established voices, fostering a community of readers and writers who value craft and critical thought.

Editorial focus

Inspired by the legacy of Katherine Anne Porter, Porter House Review seeks to publish bold and incisive writing that interrogates not only the complexities of the human experience, but also the prevailing social challenges of our time. In support of this mission, we seek unique perspectives from both established, award-winning authors, as well as emerging and underrepresented voices from around the world. We celebrate a wide range of literary forms and styles.
