The Bibliothek Andreas Züst is offering studio residency stipends for duos and collectives (up to 5 persons) in summer 2026. The length of stay is a total of six weeks. Application for the Studio Residency Stipend is open to national and international cultural workers across disciplines — visual arts, literature, new media, music, theatre, design, architecture, film, photography, and art-related disciplines. For the stipendiaries, the Alpenhof panorama lodge will provide for accommodations. Applicants must submit a statement specifying their specific interests and describing their motivation in seeking a residency. The Bibliothek Andreas Züst is especially seeking projects that deal with the library as a whole or one of its sub-areas. The Studio Residency Stipend program is to be considered in the tradition of libraries as places of knowledge in the sense of diversity. In short: the residency should entail research about what constitutes the fabric of our culture and also what goes beyond it.

Bidston Observatory Artistic Research Centre is a not-for-profit study site that focuses on providing individual users and groups with a low cost, temporary place to dictate their own methods of work. The centre allows practitioners to come and stay together, to develop projects that require time and space in a flexible, non-pressured environment. This is a site for research and experimentation, primarily directed towards cultural production and supporting the development of communities. The Observatory does not look to lay claim to work produced here, and the space is not for public presentation per se. Work here is mainly co-initiated rather than steered by traditional modes of curation. Practitioners define their own projects during their stay. The Observatory also hosts seminars, events and workshops and is open to a range of academic and non-academic discourses; from politics and social sciences to philosophy, bodywork, collective choreography or chat; where discussion can flow from kitchen to sound recording studio, and ideas can bounce between the domes and basements. The Observatory welcomes a diversity of fields and is a forum where different types of knowledge can be tested, shared and extended. At its core, Bidston Observatory Artistic Research Centre is an independent project which supports other projects. It is an experiment in process.
In a dynamic area characterised by drowned villages, wind turbines, rectilinear fields and meandering marches through nature, agriculture and (offshore) industry, Bierumer School offers artists space for production and presentation. Bierumer School is focused on experiment and development, where art asks questions and is not always looking for answers. A place for the imagination of the not immediately definable. An open and active refuge for artists of all disciplines. Bierumer School is part of De Noordenaars, a platform for presentation institutions and art initiatives in the Northern Netherlands. De Noordenaars consists, among others, of Academie Minerva, Kunsthuis SYB, Media Art Friesland, Noorderlicht, SIGN and VHDG. The Noordenaars stand for experiment, development of talent and the production of new art, and are responsible, among other things, for the Artist in Space programme. This is an experimental talent programme developed and implemented by the members of De Noordaars. These 12 art institutes from the North of the Netherlands work together and create new opportunities for talent within the visual arts.
